I am very sad to say that my beloved Cornish rooster, Tubby, past away yesterday. His breed is only suppose to live about six months, but Tubby got to brighten my days for over a year. I put together some photos to remember him by.
Have you ever known a chicken to be camera shy? Well, Tubby was. Every time we brought out the camera he wouldn’t crow. So, we audio recorded his crow and then played it back to him trying to get him to crow. It eventually worked.
Rest in peace little buddy. May you forever crow in the big chicken coop in the sky.
Kristina, I am so sorry. RIP Tubby! Great photos, he was a handsome rooster. I remember the posts about how he wouldn’t crow for the camera and you recorded his crow lol! He was entertaining. I love your last line about how he’ll be crowing in the big chicken coop in the sky!
Thanks Madilyn. I didn’t realize I had taken so many pictures of Tubby. It took me awhile to go through them all and choose. He definitely was special.
Oh no! Poor Tubby. I didn’t realize chickens only lived for a few months. Here I was, looking forward to another installment of Tales from the Henhouse. I’ve certainly loved all of your Tubby-inspired posts.
Tubby was such a neat chicken. I told my son no more of those breeds. I can’t help but get attached to them and love them like pets. 🙁
I didn’t realize chickens had such a short life span, either. Thanks for sharing the images.
The Cornish chicken is raised for food so their bodies are geared to gain a lot of weight quickly. I knew this before getting attached, but Tubby had such a special personality, it was hard not to love him.
He certainly was easy to love.
I think we chicks will miss him and his personality a bunch.
“We chicks” will definitely miss him. Too cute! 🙂
