The last leg of our summer vacation was to Carlsbad Caverns. We did the main touristy cave and it was awesome! (It’s not too nerdy to do just touristy things, right? That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.)
We opted for the self-guided tour and entered through the most amazing Natural Entrance.
As you can see it is a very steep entrance with switch-backs all the way down to the Big Room. The descent is 1 1/4 mile down to the bottom! Here are some of the photos I took on the way down.
This is looking back at the entrance
Once down in to the Big Room, there is just enough light to see how expansive that area is. There are about 1 1/4 miles of trails in the Big Room alone! Boy was I glad I wore my hiking boots (and that there was an elevator to take me back to the top! LOL!)
Anyone up for some climbing?
As you can see there are some pretty cool formations here! 🙂
