We have had the opportunity to attend a few classic car shows recently. We were excited when we heard about the 21st annual Fathers day car show at Hot Springs State Park in Thermopolis, Wyoming. Thermopolis is about 3 hours away from Casper, but the hubby wanted to go. He didn’t even have to twist my arm. Besides, I knew we would be traveling through the beautiful Wind River Canyon.
It was such a beautiful day and there were so many cars, trucks, and motorcycles! If I had to put a number on how many entries there were, I would guess about 150. I am already looking forward to next year. Here are just a few of the awesome classic beauties on display:
First time I have ever seen a Volkswagen Karmann Ghia.
For my rock crawler friends
YES!
Um…hmm. That’s all I gotta say.
Awesome paint on this Boss Hog trike.
El Camino!
Paint on the hood of the El Camino
Rare Chevrolet 454 SS with air bags under the bed
One of my favorite cars there
And, of course, nothing is sweeter than a little John Denver in the 8 track player of a 25th anniversary corvette!
I’ve made that drive from Casper to Thermopolis! LOVE IT! It’s so beautiful!
Hope you are doing well.
Hi Holly! We are doing great here. I hope you and your family are well, also! I will be posting pictures of the canyon soon. I took so many that is is taking some time to go through them all. lol. 🙂
Oh how fun!
Last month our church gave away the 25th Anniversary Corvette. I REALLY, really hoped I would have won it! Nope, another really lucky couple won it…
I missed a classic car show this past weekend, about 3 miles from our house. We drove right by it and I whined like a child. If we weren’t already in the car going to meet family for lunch downtown, I would have begged to stop by so I could photograph!! I love classic cars. Maybe it was the way we were brought up?
I’m glad you enjoyed the scenic view with the Hubs.
That would have been awesome to win the corvette! Once the warm weather hits here, all the awesome classic cars start coming out of the woodwork. You will have to check out a car show soon they are pretty cool. 🙂
Wow! I forgot all about Karmann Ghias…those were quite popular among my friends when I was in high school during the 70s. That bicycle with all the horns and whatnot was hilarious! And El Caminos…the ubiquitous car-truck of the South and Southwest. Definitely a “stereotype” vehicle! Did y’all buy anything?
I would have liked to have several of those cars. There were a couple for sale, but I didn’t win the lottery yet, so it will have to wait. All I know is, when I DO win the lottery, I am going to need a very large garage. lol!
